The number of people leaving the Capital for their respective homes has been steadily rising for the past few days. People from various walks of life including students with their families living outside the Valley are returning home for this auspicious festive season which includes major Hindu festivals, namely: Dashain, Tihar and Chhat. Since Gathasthapa, the first day of Dashain, on October 1, around one million people have left the Valley from five exit points including Thankot, Kakani, Sankhu, Pharping and Sanga, according to SP Lokendra Malla, spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Division. The number of people leaving is increasing day by day as the festival approaches, he added. Meanwhile, few passengers are still struggling to get tickets of buses, jeeps and micro-buses to go home to be with their loved ones during the vital festival.
