The daily closure of Narayanghat-Mugling road section for road widening drive has been lifted from Wednesday. The road section was closed from 11 am to 3 pm every day for upgradation. The Narayanghat-Mugling highway experiences the heaviest traffic load in the country, accounting for 90 percent of Nepal’s total international trade traffic. More than 20,000 vehicles ply the highway every day. At least 19 passengers died on the spot and other 12 were injured when a Pokhara-bound night bus from Gaur of Rautahat fell into the Trishuli River along the Narayangarh-Mugling road section at 4.45 this morning. According to Chitwan District Police Office Chief SP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, some six of the injured were already rescued and efforts are on to rescue other six in the incident site. The bus (Ga 1 Kha 3709) had plunged into the Trishuli River nearby Mugling.
