The northern terminus of this road is U.S. Route 16 and U.S. Route 385 which is about 3 miles south of Hill City. The southern terminus is U.S. Route which is about 6 miles east of Pringle, South Dakota, or 14 miles north of Hot Springs. The northern of the highway is also known as the Needles Highway which is of 14 miles. The Needles Highway along with the US 16A concurrency are also the part of the Peter Norbrck Scenic Byway. Also the portion of the highway are the section of Custer State Park’s Wildlife Loop. It has the narrow roadway, sharp turns, and low tunnels. This highway has the very little traffic.
