Today’s meeting of the Legislature-Parliament could not convene due to disagreement among parties on the process of enacting various subsidiary bills relating to budget after a no-confidence motion against the government was registered at the parliament. The parliamentary meeting set for 11:00 am today was stated to take place later at 3:00 pm by issuing a notice. It was, however, put off without convening. According to the Legislature-Parliament Regulations, the meeting of Legislature-Parliament would automatically be put off if it does not take place within two hours of the stipulated time. With this the next meeting of the parliament is set to take place at 1:00 pm on Friday. Today’s agenda was to endorse ‘Finance Bill-2073’, ‘Bill on Raising National Debt-2073’ and ‘Bill on Loan and Securities (21st Amendment) Bill-2073’ after having clause-wise deliberations. The parliament earlier had endorsed the Appropriation Bill-2073 BS. Confusion has surfaced to deal with the situation that resulted after the ruling ally CPN-Maoist Centre pulled out its support to the coalition government and tabled a no-trust motion against it. Nepali Congress leader Mahesh Acharya commented that his party would not create any obstacle in endorsing the subsidiary bills of the budget as the agenda is not only of the government but of the nation.
